Future Fights with Technology

I was in my office this afternoon with my work desktop up listening to a sermon, google chatting with a good friend from Dallas, google email up, my work email up, my iphone was on, I was actually typing on my mac laptop... setting up a twitter account and blog all at once connecting them both to my already crazy Facebook page and regretting having ever started a Myspace page. I then remembered my Plaxo and Linked-In accounts. That's when I realized my kids are going to take a technological beating. It's a fight that has already been lost. I would say it's like a boxing match with Rocky but then again Rocky came back at age 60 and lost. I look at my dad and laugh at how little he understands about certain technologies but now I know it's my fate.
So here's my question... at the fall when man was separated from God sin also destroyed every relationship and separated us from one another so that now we are left with this desire to know and be known but also the frustrations of sin destroying them all. Do you think that twitter, blogs, social networks, cell phones, etc.. help us to grow closer together or separate us more?

  1. For me ... definitely has drawn me closer to others and in a strange sort of way to God as well. Very unexpected. I thought it would have produced superficial relationships, but there are a few people I've grown much closer to since Twitter, etc. and have been encouraged spiritually in addition to that. Great question.
